More than two decades of research
Founder Dr Yunhua Gao is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2003, her group undertook microneedle transdermal-delivery research under China's 863 programme. The company subsequently focused on dissolving polymer microneedles capable of incorporating active ingredients.
The article contrasts injection, oral delivery and conventional transdermal patches, each with its own limitations, as the background for this research direction.

RT-SMP® process features
- Room-temperature forming: reducing exposure to elevated processing temperatures, with active stability evaluated for the individual formulation.
- Stepwise filling: supporting localisation of formulation in the tips and adjustment of needle height, array density and patch shape.
- Different structures: integrated dissolving, layered dissolving and swelling microneedle formulations.

From research to pilot samples
The reported services include preclinical pharmaceutical development of microneedle patches, transfer from laboratory processes to pilot scale, and preparation of project-specific samples such as IND and clinical-study batches. Scope and acceptance requirements depend on the project.
As of the first half of 2025, the source reported service to more than 60 enterprises and institutions. It described the Chongqing subsidiary as occupying more than 8,000 square metres, with annual cosmetic-patch capacity of 150 million patches. These are dated company statements, not pharmaceutical batch capacity or a delivery commitment.
Longer-term research directions
The article describes plans to explore vaccine delivery for infectious diseases and insulin-patch development with affordability and adherence in mind. These are stated research ambitions, not completed collaborations, clinical results or approved products.
