The presentation was delivered by Director Lu Di in Hall D from 12:50 to 13:10.
From formulation improvement to industrial capability
The presentation considered the value proposition of specialised formulations through the lens of long-term industrialisation. A moat built only on formulation improvement may have a limited time window: when compound patents expire and procurement pressure intensifies, the price curve for topical products can decline quickly. This is a factor that formulation-development teams need to consider from the outset of a project.
A central view from the presentation
Microneedle delivery has moved beyond proof of concept and is entering a stage of clinical validation. Large-scale commercial adoption still requires further progress, but this is also a window for strategic preparation. The presentation noted that China’s industrialisation strengths may help domestic companies translate projects in this specialised field more efficiently.
Connecting process development with manufacturing
CASMN’s view is supported by its process and manufacturing capability layout.
- RT-SMP® room-temperature printing process — applied by CASMN to microneedle forming and layered-structure development. For temperature-sensitive active ingredients, process suitability remains subject to project-specific assessment.
- CASMN microneedle drug-delivery platform — covering coating, dissolving and swelling microneedle approaches, with project support from preclinical pharmaceutics and process development to pilot-scale sample preparation.
- Beijing pilot-scale and automation support — combining pilot scale-up, quality evaluation and subsequent manufacturing-transfer support according to project requirements; the final scope is determined through project evaluation and agreement.
During the exhibition, CASMN presented samples based on three microneedle technology approaches and its pilot-scale capabilities at Booth C-107-1.
